Good afternoon New Tradition parents,

I first and foremost, would like to thank you all for choosing to enroll your children in such an exciting after school enrichment program. This week has been dedicated to establishing connections with the children, as well as assessing their Spanish level, personal strengths, abilities, and learning style.  I decided to begin the class this week with an overview of counting, the alphabet, verbs, and describing some of our favorite animals and I  must say that I was truly impressed with each child’s prior knowledge of the Spanish language. Many of the children were able to count beyond twenty, and a few could even count past thirty! We also began to recite the alphabet, draw/name our favorite animals, and state which letter of the alphabet each particular animal represented.  During each class we have been using puppets, games, and songs to describe action words such as bailar (dance), cantar (sing), llorar (cry), gatear (crawl), caminar (walk), corer (run), and saltar (jump). Next week, we plan to learn about feelings, descriptive words, and elaborating on our use of action words. I will also send home a simple numbers worksheet for the children to work on for this weekend and will continue to assign simple tasks from here on out.  It was great meeting everyone this week and I look forward to working closely with all of you!
