Feliz Pascua

Hello parents,

I apologize for such a late post but I have had a very busy last few days. We had a great week with a bit of rain but lots of fun things to do. I brought the movie A bug’s life in Spanish for the kids to see. We had been talking about nature and little critters a couple of weeks ago so it was perfect for them to practice what they had learned. We watched a bit of the movie every day. The kids recognized some of the bugs and understood (and sometimes even translated) the dialogue quite easily, even though a few had never seen it.

We also talked about shapes around us. We walked through the school finding different shapes in everyday objects and places at the school. The kids had a worksheet to track what they saw and where and chose to either draw or write the name of the objects. We were detectives doing investigative research and a lot of fun. We sat down to talk about our findings and compare notes. We also played a few image recognition games including the flyswatter game, which never fails to make learning and drilling vocabulary fun and noisy.

The good behavior felt ball jar was filled for the second time this year on Tuesday so we dedicated Thursday to an Easter Party. The kids were given the option of coming to class in costumes or pajamas. We decorated eggs and then talked and described them in our circle time. Afterward, we stepped outside to enjoy the good weather and our Easter party. I brought bran mini muffins and orange juice for the kids. We sat together and the kids took turns asking for cups, napkins, their muffin of choice and some orange juice. Then we talked a little about what we’d be doing during the long weekend and we wished Emmett an early happy birthday. It was a great afternoon. Starting tomorrow, we will be designing our very own super heroes!

Please make sure to print and send the form I sent you via email if you want your child to continue in the Spanish after school program next year. Also, be sure to RSVP to the invitation sent out for our end of the year performance and potluck. We will be preparing our act starting tomorrow and I hope it turns out as planned.

Enjoy your week and see you tomorrow.
