Frutas y Vegetales

Greeting to everyone:
We have been working with The chef and Food as part of the community helpers’s main topic. On Monday I introduced a new vocabulary related to fruits and vegetables. The students had  to recognize the Spanish names of some common fruits. They were able to learned color, shape and texture. Then we did a read  about fruits and vegetables. On Tuesday we played a game on the carpet to recognize the   spelling of the students’s  names in Spanish . Then, we continue with the theme of fruit and I checked up  the new vocabulary delivered through the musical chair. On Wednesday, we created a market in the classroom where students went to buy fruits and vegetables. They learned how to ask in Spanish for fruit’s prices  and how much ( quantity) they wanted:
-Cuanto cuesta las naranjas?
- 1 dollar 0 3 dollares…
-Cuanto cuestan las bananas?
-las bananas cuestan 2 dollares…
On Thursday we returned to the market and then we went to a restaurant. The students were able, after going to the market, to make a fruit salad or vegetables in a restaurant’s kitchen, and trough this dramatized action  they were acquiring more vocabulary.
We’ve also been working with the food pyramid in Spanish and learning the importance of a balanced diet.
GOOD NEWS: This week i-Immersion decided to start with a new way to enhance the  language acquisition proces for all their Spanish students and it will begin on Monday next week. We are going to give the students a folder to collecting daily homework. This Homework folder is for them to have with and take it  to the daily class and home everyday, so in this way you will participate more in their language learning process. And don’t worry, we are not trying to torture them with more homework. You just have  to spend a few minutes a day with you kid and support them with a serie of  handouts prepared for this pourpose.
Thanks and have great weekend!!!
