“Schools need language after school programs to teach worldly views.”
i-Immersion implements language programs in schools to help promote a sense of worldly views and the importance of speaking multiple languages. Our mission is to build a well-rounded foreign language community by connecting schools, families, and local businesses to engage in the learning effort! Overview
The iiSchool program introduces a step-by-step immersion language curriculum that allows children to learn Mandarin or Spanish in a fun and engaging environment. Students are typically grouped into classes of Preschool, K-1, 2-3, and 4-5, although we also have mix-age classes for language starter families and schools. Our Language Activity Leaders serve as the facilitator in the classroom, guiding students to gain a greater understanding of language and culture. The goal of the iiSchool program is to achieve listening and communication fluency and some writing and reading based on the time commitment and language background.
What You’ll Learn
The iiSchool program promotes knowledge and skills necessary to achieving language fluency and cultural understanding. In addition to the level 1 work at the basic communications stage, critical areas such as structural communications (level 2), concept communications (level 3) and written communications (level 4) serve as guidelines to the i-Immersion Proficiency Expectations. The importance of cultural understanding is emphasized throughout the curriculum, along with core competencies in child development. The iiSchool program utilizes the Activity Blocks to provide students with a selection of age-appropriate games to inspire language and cultural learning. This program references the 5′Cs Standards that lead to a successful language acquisition experience.
Program Objectives
- To establish language after school programs that are culturally rich in content and activities.
- To provide a safe, culturally diverse, and a positive atmosphere for children and staff.
- To enrich the after school curriculum by integrating best teaching practices and content.
Age Groups
Typical Schedule
Each class consists of different activity blocks based on the students’ age, interest, and skill levels. Minimum class time is 2 hours per day, twice per week. For optimal experience, we recommend at least 9 hours per week of class instruction and activities.
What You’ll Do
i-Immersion’s curriculum is age-appropriate that integrates a variety of activities to drive inspiration and creativity. Our Activity Blocks are thoughtfully assembled to provide multiple methods to learning languages- welcome time, hands-on activities, story & music, games, cultural lessons, fitness & movement, writing and more! The goal of these Activity Blocks is to provide adequate opportunities for repetition of key vocabulary and phrases while ensuring that students are engaged in a diverse array of activities. It is our job to ensure that students are having fun and continuing to feel challenged.
