Weekly Adventure Themes
- The Beach: Summer is a great time to bathe under the sun, build sand castles, and catch hermit crabs! But do you know what type of animals there are in the sand, underneath rocks, and by the shore? Come find out! There will be sand art, flag dance, and a bon fire party!
- The Pirate Ship: Oh no! Captain Hook kidnapped our best friends and sailed away on a pirate ship! Let’s save our friends by getting on the pirate ship and disguising as pirates and prisoners! You will learn valuable sword fighting skills and take home a beautiful treasure box!
- The Jungle: Beware of dangerous animals, insects, and aboriginals in the jungle! Learn camouflage skills and breathing techniques to help you blend in with your surroundings! Tumbling and crawling are essential movements to help us avoid danger!
- The Forest: Build a sturdy tent and a kite to get through a week of wilderness survival like a group of young scouts. You will befriend many forest animals and fight a ferocious lion with a paper mache ball!
- Under the Sea: Explore life undersea with your scuba diving gear. Learn breathing techniques, and Tai Chi moves that focus on concentration and balancing skills. Every scuba diver will display his or her artwork with the sea life encountered during this exciting sea adventure week.
Treasure Booths
To help our campers become fluent speakers, we set-up a variety of booths to encourage role play and interaction.
- THE BEAR’S LAIR- learn food items and numbers to purchase and sell at the cash register during your adventure trips.
- THE ART SHOP- dress up or paint your face to reflect the theme of the day such as pirates or jungle animals.
- THE WAREHOUSE- stock up your gear and the vocabulary, phrases, and sentences needed to continue on your journey as you play with blocks, puzzles, board games, and stuffed animals in groups or as a class.
- THE GAS STATION- “re-fuel” at the gas station where rugs, mats, pillows, blankets, and sleeping bags are provided for short naps or quiet indoor recess time.
- THE BON FIRE- express what you learn through role-play using toy pots, pans, food, dolls, and other props.
- THE CENTER HALL- hold team meetings with leaders and partners to make important decisions about your journey.
